Assessing cognitive ability is beneficial to understand learning difficulties at school, identify areas of cognitive strengths and challenges, differentiate between cognitive and emotional difficulties, diagnoses (e.g., intellectual impairment, giftedness, ADHD, learning disorders etc).
Learning Assessment ($2200)
Learning differences, characterised by differences in how the brain processes information, are common in each and every classroom.
From our learning assessment we’re able to identify the specific ways in which your little warriors brain processes information, how these differences relate to learning, and the most helpful ways to present and explain information to your child for maximum absorption.
Our assessment results and recommendations provide you, your little warrior and their teachers with the information needed to best support your little warrior to thrive.

PREP Readiness Assessment ($850)
Starting school is a major milestone in your little warrior’s life and will set the tone for much of their future development. The complex interplay of development necessary for school readiness involves much more than a child being able to write their name and count to ten.
Prematurely entering Prep can have detrimental impacts on a child’s sense of self, openness to school and willingness to learn. Similarly, applying rigid age entry rules to a child who is advanced in their development can limit your child’s potential (e.g., less structured environments such as home or kindy may not be stimulating enough for an advanced child’s developmental drive to learn).
Social Emotional Assessment ($1100)
Social-emotional development serves as essential building blocks of childhood development and psychological wellbeing. Difficulties are commonly associated with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, aggression, hyperactivity, impulsivity, emotional lability, friendship difficulties, behavioural issues, self-harm and substance misuse.
Difficulties can occur at every age and stage. Early identification and intervention is important to ensure a little warrior is given the chance to thrive and be their best, true selves.

Antenatal/Infancy
From 0-18 months
Pregnancy and the first year of life is a critical period where all members of the family need to be considered, nurtured and supported. For parents, early parenthood is a psychologically vulnerable time. For infants, it is a time for immense social-emotional development and brain development more broadly.
At LW we draw on evidence-based theory (e.g., attachment theory) as well as research in the field of infant development. Our aim is to facilitate joyful parenting, strengthen attachment relationships between parent and infant, strengthen parental reflective capacity and provide support through the practical challenges.
Toddlerhood
From roughly 18 months to 3 years old
At LW we draw on evidence-based theory (e.g., attachment
theory, Erikson’s stages of development) and research in the field of toddler development. Our aim is to facilitate joyful parenting, strengthen attachment
relationships between parent and toddler, strengthen parental reflective capacity and provide support through the practical challenges.
During this period, your toddler is developing self-control and independence as they learn to walk, grasp objects and use the toilet. Our goal as parents in this stage is to respect their developing independence. However, supporting independence while keeping toddlers safe is a delicate balance, and it’s common for a range of everyday struggles to occur, including:
Toileting Struggles
Mealtime Struggles
Sleep Struggles
Big emotions
Food Avoidance & Refusal
Fears & Worries
Separation Anxiety
Sharing & Playing Challenges

Preschool
Between 3-5 years
At LW we draw on evidence-based theory (e.g., attachment
theory, Erikson’s stages of development) and research in the field of preschool development. Early intervention in this age strengthens basic psychological skills (e.g., identification of feelings, self-regulation, social problem-solving, improving parent-child relationships etc) improves academic outcomes and reduces the likelihood of mental illness throughout your little warrior’s life.
With a growing ability to assert confidence, increased motor skills, and burgeoning independence, little warrior’s face a number of new challenges in the preschool period.
Difficulties with separation, delaying gratification, coping with frustration, and regulating emotions are common underlying difficulties beneath a range of challenges in the preschool period.
Early intervention in this age strengthens basic psychological skills (e.g., identification of feelings, self-regulation, social problem-solving, improving parent-child relationships etc) improves academic outcomes and reduces the likelihood of mental illness throughout your little warriors life.
Primary
From roughly 6 to 12 years old
At LW we draw on evidence-based theory (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy, attachment theory, Erikson’s stages of development) and research in the field of primary age development. Early intervention in this age strengthens basic psychological skills (e.g., identification of feelings, self- regulation, social problem-solving, improving parent-child relationships etc) improves academic outcomes and reduces the likelihood of mental illness throughout your little warrior’s life.
Events such as starting school bring primary children into regular contact with the larger world. In developing many new social, cognitive and physical skills, independence from family and peer friendships become more and more important, and for some, puberty may add further complexities.
With a child’s world widening, so to do the pressures, expectations and adjustments experienced by children, opening the door for a broader range of conflicts and challenges that a little warrior may need support with, including:
Separation Anxiety
Self-Esteem
Anxiety & Depression
Continence Difficulties
Big Emotions
Fears & Worries
School Refusal
Social Anxiety
Autism
OCD
Intellectual Impairment
Learning Differences
Dysgraphia
ADHD
Tics/Tourette’s
Giftedness
Dyslexia
Dyscalculia
Neurodifferences
Neurodiversity refers to differences in how a brain processes information. Embracing neurodiversity takes away the pressure for little warriors to change themselves, and places the emphasis on creating changes in the environment and expectations instead.
Like all brains, brains with neurodifferences have both strengths and challenges. Better understanding your kid’s unique brain profile will give both the information needed to help your little warrior to thrive and be their best, true self.
Parenting
At LW we embrace parents. We are a unique generation having access to so much information on positive parenting, but it is challenging to translate these ideas into practice despite our good intentions. This is especially the case when we are also managing our own stress and emotions.
Positive parenting helps parents be the parents they imagined they’d be and little warriors to be happier, healthier, and engage more frequently in the behaviours that we parents prefer (because they want to, not because they have to).
We see you. Let’s do this together.
